Cannabinol is one of the over 100 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. The compound is known to be mildly psychoactive and is usually only found in trace amounts in cannabis. However, the concentration of the Cannabinoid is increased in ‘aged’ cannabis. CBN is made from the aging THC compound, which is converted to CBNa when exposed to direct sunlight. This is then converted into CBN.
In contrast to THC, it has a high affinity to the CB2 receptor, as opposed to the CB1 receptor in the Endocannabinoid System. However, it has a lower affinity for these receptors than THC.
